What determines a productive winter bean-wheat genotype combination for intercropping in central Germany?

چکیده
Little is known about optimising the productivity of intercropping through exploiting differences between genotypes. Our study evaluates performance three winter wheat cultivars and eight faba bean genotypes (experimental inbred lines) sown as replacement row intercrops with sole cropping comparisons. Detailed agronomic, physiological soil-based measurements were taken over consecutive autumn-sown seasons at two sites (a marginal versus a fertile soil) in central Germany. This aimed to contribute our understanding key traits required achieve highly complementary well-performing intercrops. Faba plus yielded higher than crop equivalents both sites, but more so site (34 % > 12 %). High intercrop yields associated high component yields. Such stands included that exhibited low leaf area index (LAI) values plant height. Tall large beans i.e. vegetative biomass led excessive lodging, when intercropped. To some extent, this concealed effects genotype trait variation would have otherwise been visible had lodging not occurred. The expression these was heavily influenced by environmental conditions. At less site, even tall intercropped showed relatively lower biomass, which promoted superior overyielding relative yield total. While site-specific are key, German need further genetic improvement refrain from superfluous growth water resources plentiful.

What Determines Job Duration for Male Employees in Germany?
We examine job durations of German workers using linked employer–employee data. Our results indicate that exit rates are strongly influenced by firm characteristics. The effects of some of these characteristics, however, are limited to particular job positions or skill groups. There is clear evidence for a sorting process whereby workers with long expected job durations are matched to firms off...
متن کاملIntercropping wheat with pea for improved wheat baking quality
Field pea (Pisum sativum L.) and wheat (Triticum sativum L.) were either sole cropped or intercropped in a complete design of five relative proportions and five density levels to determine the effects of interspecific interaction in an intercrop on wheat baking quality. It is shown how pea interspecific competitive ability for factors such as light and water results in an increase in wheat prot...

متن کاملCombining Ability in Winter Wheat
Knowledge of quantitative genetic parameters is crucial in allocating resources for different steps of multistage selection programs. The main objective of the present study was to investigate the magnitude of variance of general combining ability (GCA) and specifi c combining ability (SCA) effects and their interaction with environments in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). We used four data sets (...
متن کاملNovel Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Genotype ON1 Predominates in Germany during Winter Season 2012–13
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of hospitalization especially in young children with respiratory tract infections (RTI). Patterns of circulating RSV genotypes can provide a better understanding of the molecular epidemiology of RSV infection. We retrospectively analyzed the genetic diversity of RSV infection in hospitalized children with acute RTI admitted to University Ho...
